The Waves of
Westlake [Westlake Village Swim Team-WVST] is committed to promoting a safe, healthy and fun 2020 swim
season amidst the current COVID-19 environment.
The WOW Board, coaches and staff are committed to complying with and
enforcing all Charles County and Maryland State Department of Health guidelines
to reduce the transmission of the COVID-19 virus. As such, WVST reserves the right to
suspend the participation of an athlete and/or their family in the summer 2020
PMSL swim program for consistent non-adherence to the following Standard
Operating Procedures.
Participation Criteria:
An athlete, coach, WOW Board member, staff member, volunteer
or guest – and anyone residing in their household – must meet the following
criteria to be eligible to participate or attend Westlake Village Swim Team (WVST)
practices, meets, or other events:
- Have not tested positive for COVID-19.
- Have not had contact with anyone who has tested
positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
- Cannot have a temperature over 100.4 degrees, a
cough or difficulty breathing in the last 14 days
Any athlete, coach, WOW Board member, staff member, volunteer
or guest experiencing any symptoms of a fever, recent cough, unusual fatigue,
headache; testing positive for COVID-19; and/or has been exposed to someone who
has the COVID-19 virus:
- Shall immediately notify the WOW board of the situation.
- May not attend practice or swim meets until 14
days after the fever or symptoms have ceased.
- Athletes, coaches and staff must see a physician
and be cleared to practice after being diagnosed or suspected of being exposed
to COVID-19.
PPE Requirements:
- All Coaches will wear masks during practices.
- All Athletes will wear masks entering and
exiting the facility.
Social Distancing
requirements:
- Athletes and coaches must maintain 6 feet distance
at all times.
- There will be markings on the pool deck for
athletes to line up 6 feet apart.
- Athletes will be assigned a practice lane.
- Lane space will be limited to two swimmers (one
starting on each end of the Pool).
Athlete/Family Protocol:
- Athletes must arrive and depart in their swimsuit.
- Athletes will NOT be able to change or shower at
the facility.
- Athletes will be permitted to line-up in their
designated lane 5 minutes before their scheduled practice time.
- If athletes arrive early, they should wait in
their car until appropriate time to enter facility.
- Athletes must leave facility immediately at the
completion of their practice.
- Parents/spectators will need to maintain Social
Distance requirements at the facility while waiting for their swimmer (Please
remain in your designated area).
- Athletes should bring their own water bottle
(already filled) and any other equipment required for practice. Goggles, towels, and any other equipment will
NOT be shared or borrowed.
Facility Procedures:
- Locker rooms will be used for emergency use only.
- Athletes will come to practice with swimsuit on and
ready to swim.
- Athletes will be permitted to line-up in their
designated lane 5 minutes before their scheduled practice time.
- There will be a 15-minute break between
practices. Athletes from the previous
practice must exit the facility immediately.
- In the event of a WOW athlete, coach, Board
member, staff member, volunteer or guest testing positive for COVID-19, the facility
will be shut down for 12 hours to perform a deep clean.
